The draft gear is installed in the rear of the railcar and provides the connection between cars. It is composed of four different materials including metal, rubber, polymer materials, and elastic cement. The draft gear is primarily used to bear impact force between railcars while accelerating and braking.
TMT can design draft gears with a special process that increases rubber density, allowing for higher maximum railcar load capacity. Since 2002, we have been supplying draft gears for the largest car builders in the railroad industry.
